In addition to this month’s classroom learning curriculum, we are looking forward to learning about the season of winter, learning about the first Christmas and reading our November book winner- “Pete the Cat- 12 Groovy Days of Christmas”.
Season’s Readings: The votes are in!!!!! “Pete the Cat, 12 Groovy Days of Christmas” was the winner of our November vote. We will be reading “Pete the Cat, 12 Groovy Days of Christmas” this month to our classes and having some holiday fun with the Pete!
Grinch Day: We will kick off the holiday season with Grinch Day on Monday, December 2nd for the 2x3, 3x3, 3x5, 4x3 and 4x5 classes and on Tuesday, December 3rd for the 2x2 and 3x2 classes. We will watch “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” movie and then launch our acts of kindness month! Each class will have a Grinch heart cut out and will work towards making the heart “grow” by listing acts of kindness in the Grinch’s heart. Students may wear green to school on Grinch Day to get into the spirit of the holiday season!
Christmas Sweater, Color Fun Day: Our orange day in October and brown day in November was a great way to kick off the fall season! To celebrate the start of the winter season, we are having fun with all colors! Children may wear a fun holiday sweater to school on Monday, December 9th for the 2x3, 3x3, 3x5, 4x3 and 4x5 classes and on Tuesday, December 10th for the 2x2 and 3x2 classes. We are going to be looking for and identifying the fun colors in our sweaters and watch a holiday movie in our comfy sweaters!
Reindeer Games: Holiday themed games will be set up in our indoor playroom to get in the Christmas spirit. Bean bag Santa, Candy cane ring toss, Christmas tic tac toe are just a few of the fun games we will have. Reindeer Games will be on Thursday, December 12th for the 2x2 and 3x2 classes and on Friday, December 13th for the 2x3, 3x3, 3x5, 4x3 and 4x5 classes.
Christmas Celebrations: Our Christmas celebrations will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 17th for the 2x2 and 3x2 classes and on Wednesday December 18th for the 2x3, 3x3, 3x5, 4x3 and 4x5 classes. The Christmas celebrations will take place at 11:15am and will be in the classroom. We request one adult per child attend the Christmas celebration, due to space limitations. Students that stay past 12:00pm may leave early with their caregiver, or they may finish out the day at school and be picked up at normal time. Please let you child’s teacher know if your student will be leaving early (only for students that stay for lunch).
School Closings: School will be closed from Monday, December 23rd through Friday, January 3rd. Classes will resume on Monday, January 6th. When the children return, they will have an opportunity to bring in one special item they received for the holidays for Show and Tell. Show and Tell will be on Monday, January 6th for the 2x3, 3x3, 3x5, 4x3 and 4x5 classes and on Tuesday, January 7th for the 2x2 and 3x2 classes. Children may wear their pajamas to school on their show and tell date.
Snow closings for inclement weather: Just a reminder that the SCP follows the Seaford School District for snow closings. Please check your messages on Brightwheel and the preschool Facebook page for closings and updates.
Fundraisers: What’s better than a cold winter day and some warm oven baked cookies? Join us in our December cookie dough fundraiser and enjoy some delicious baked cookies this winter! Orders (and payments) are due Dec. 9th and Dec. 10th. Check payments should be made to: Seaford Community Preschool.
Got Sneakers? Drop off your sneakers (used or new) in a bag to the preschool office. Shoe donations are sent to “Got Sneakers”, the preschool receives fundraising money for these donations.
