Hats off to Reading! Read Across America: March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’ Birthday! To celebrate this beloved author and his passion for making reading fun for children, the National Education Association (NEA) sponsors a Read Across America Week. The SCP will get into the spirit of reading fun with a week of reading activities!!!! See below for a detailed list of the week’s activities.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day/Green Day! The 2x2, 3x2, classes will have their classroom celebration on Thursday, March 13th during normal class time. The 2x3, 3x3, 3x5, 4x3 and 4x5 classes will have their classroom celebration on Monday, March 17th during normal class time. The students may wear green to school on the day of the celebration.

Teddy Bear Picnic/Yellow Day: We are going to celebrate that spring is finally here with a picnic! The children may bring their favorite stuffed friend to attend the picnic. Bring your Roar-EE if you have one, Roar-EE’s are still available for purchase if you would like to purchase one. The 2x2 and 3x2 classes will have their picnic on Thursday, March 20th. The 2x3, 3x3, 3x5, 4x3, 4x5 classes will have their picnic on Friday, March 21st. Please send in a snack that is not too messy as the children will be eating on a blanket for the “picnic” (preferred items in a snack bag or box). The students may wear something yellow to celebrate the sunshine of spring!

Thank You Dr. Dawn: February is Pediatric Dental Health Awareness Month. Dr. Dawn Felicetti of Shore Smiles Kids in Massapequa visited our school last month to talk to the children about good dental hygiene, healthy snacks and how to avoid cavities! She also generously donated toothbrush kits to all the students in the school. We want to thank her for her time and her continued generosity to our students.
