In addition to this month’s classroom learning curriculum, we look forward to learning more about the season of Fall, learning about the importance of voting, learning about the first Thanksgiving, being thankful, remembering our Veterans, Color Fun Day- the color Brown and so much more!
School Closings: Please note the preschool will be closed Tuesday, November 5th for Election Day, Monday, November 11th for Veteran’s Day, Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th for Thanksgiving.
Your Vote Counts: Even preschoolers can have a say! We are giving our preschoolers an opportunity to have their opinion count! We will be having a SCP vote on which book SCP will all read together in December. The choices are “How the Crayons Saved Christmas” or “Pete the Cat- 12 Groovy Days of Christmas”. Which book will win? The student’s votes will decide! The book winner will be announced on November 6th.
Thank a Veteran: SCP students can help us to thank a veteran by making a homemade card at home as a family. Cards should be handmade. Pencils, crayons and paint can be used. NO glitter, stickers or any items that can easily be removed. No envelopes please. Please send in Cards by November 1st. Cards will be sent to a local veteran’s group(s). Please help us thank these brave men and women for serving our country and protecting our freedom!
Cards for Cops: Beyond the Badge, a local non-profit organization is collecting Holiday Cards for 1st responders and law enforcement officers. See the flyer in Brightwheel for directions on making a card. Cards can be sent to the preschool by November 18th and SCP will send to Beyond the Badge.
Picture Day: Let’s see those beautiful smiles! Following picture day, each family will receive an email with an online code to view the photos and then decide which photos to buy. A SCP sibling photo may also be taken upon request. Below is the picture day class schedule:

Gobble Gobble – Brown Day: This month’s color of the month is Brown! The children can wear something brown or their best Fall colors to school on the assigned day for their class. For the 2x2 and 3x2 classes, Brown Day will be on Thursday, November 14th. For the 2x3, 3x3, 3x5, 4x3 and 4x5 classes, Brown Day will be on Friday, November 15th.
Thanksgiving Celebration: Parents/Caregivers are invited to join our students for a Thanksgiving celebration and feast! The celebrations will take place from 11:00am-12:00pm on your child’s assigned day. We will be sending home more information on items we will need send in for the feast. Monday, November 25th

UMC Food Donation: The United Methodist Church of Seaford and the Seaford Community Preschool are jointly collecting food donations to make Thanksgiving meals for those in need. Drop off food items by 11/15. Non-perishable food items may be left in the yellow donation bin on the patio. Perishable items should be handed to a preschool office staff member to be properly refrigerated. The church has an ongoing food bank collection all year long. If you wish to donate, please leave non-perishable items in the yellow bin on the front patio. Donations go to local food pantries.
Fundraisers: This month’s fundraisers are Hans Crumb Cakes and Fun Pasta! Hans Crumb Cake offers delicious crumb and pound cakes just in time for Thanksgiving get togethers. Fun Pasta offers a fun variety of pastas for all occasions and makes great holiday gifts.
Got Sneakers? Drop off your sneakers (used or new) in a bag to the preschool office. Shoe donations are sent to “Got Sneakers”, the preschool receives fundraising money for these donations.
Thank you! Thank you to the Seaford Stop and Shop on Merrick Rd/Washington Ave. for donating 100 pumpkins to the preschool for Orange Day/Halloween Celebration! The children had so much fun picking pumpkins at our very own SCP pumpkin patch! Thank you to the Seaford Fire Department for coming to the preschool last month to teach our children about fire safety. The children were so excited to see to see the firemen, look at and sit in a firetruck and learn about fire safety! Thank you to the staff of the Children’s room at the Seaford Public Library for an amazing program and visit!
